How Much Does a Wireless Penetration Test Cost?
A wireless penetration test is a holistic review of your wireless environment and the risk it presents to your organization as a whole. This assessment includes tactical testing that determines whether an attacker in the parking lot can gain access to your corporate network through your wireless signal. However, in contrast to other penetration tests, a wireless penetration test also includes certain aspects that are more like an audit. For example, we’ll ensure your Guest wireless network is properly segmented from the rest of the internal network. We will also search for rogue access points throughout the building. For a more detailed write-up on all the aspects of a wireless penetration test, check out our methodology. Now that we discussed what a wireless penetration test is, let’s get into wireless penetration test cost.
Wireless Penetration Test Cost
A wireless penetration test of one office location typically costs $4,800. The test will take approximately two to three days to complete. A wireless penetration test is one of the few assessments we perform that has to be completed on-site. This cost does not account for travel expenses as those are billed separately, unless you are in the Charlotte, NC area.
What Factors Into Wireless Penetration Test Cost?
The cost of a wireless penetration test may fluctuate based on many factors. Although this list is not comprehensive, these are the primary factors that can influence the cost:
Number of Sites – This is obviously the biggest wireless penetration test cost factor. For each site that we need to visit and test, we will need to do a site survey, check for rogue access points, and test the wireless network. If the sites have the same wireless configuration this can be shortened, as some of the checks we perform will be redundant. If the sites are located near each other there are also some efficiencies and some phases can be combined. However, it will still add some time to complete the test.
Travel – Although this is billed separately, it is something to consider when evaluating wireless penetration test cost. As it is one of the few forms of penetration testing that absolutely requires onsite travel, cost can differ depending on where you are located. Our engineers follow a strict travel policy and we try to ensure that we keep your costs to a minimum.
Testing Windows – In some cases, clients want us to restrict our testing to only certain time windows. For example, we have a major client onsite from 11 AM – 4 PM, so please don’t break in around that time. While we will do everything we can to accommodate your organization, it may require us to extend the test for another day, which could increase the cost.
